Ling Deng - Inflexion

Facilitator

Ling joined the Inflexion Portico team as a Facilitator on June 27, 2022. Prior to joining Inflexion she spent most of her career working in education and with underserved populations. The primary populations she worked with include adjudicated youth and youth who had been impacted by familial incarceration. Due to her experience with these unique populations, Ling has facilitated trainings with adult learners on trauma responsive and informed care, and restorative practices. She’s been working in non-profits since 2017 under both federal and state grants. Ling graduated with a BA from Virginia Commonwealth University and double majored in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies and Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies.

Ling is originally from Richmond, Virginia but now resides and works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her hobbies include cooking, baking, collecting new plants, and traveling…which is a good thing because Ling’s first day of employment with Inflexion was traveling to San Diego for the Portico Coaching Clinic! CTE Course Equivalent Frameworks (Washington)

EPIC conducted an evaluation of a 15-month project funded by the Oregon Department of Education. The grant allowed the Oregon Business Education Compact (BEC) to implement a model of professional development and support for teachers and leaders at four demonstration sites across Oregon (two middle schools, one high school, and one grade 4–7 school). The project aimed to support and expand the use of proficiency-based teaching practices, and gather feedback from teachers and students about the use of proficiency-based practices in their schools. The evaluation focused on adding to the BEC’s growing body of research-based knowledge regarding its model, determining the necessity and effectiveness of the various components of the model, and deepening understanding of the supports and barriers to effective implementation.
