The article outlines an instructional practice occurring in Newark Public School district, wherein middle school students, under the instruction of teachers and National Urban Alliance mentors, guide the rest of their class through a lesson, assuming the role of primary instructor. Every student during the course of the year gets the opportunity to lead the class through one lesson, and spends time before their turn learning the content and instructional practices they will need to be effective. The benefits of this program affect the whole classroom, as the experience of being a student teacher is consistently a positive one.
